Composition : |
Each vial of VANCOMED 500 contains Vancomycin Hydrochloride 500 mg equivalent to Vancomycin 500 mg.
Each vial of VANCOMED 1000 contains Vancomycin Hydrochloride 1000 mg equivalent to Vancomycin 1000 mg.

Indications : |
Vancomed injection is indicated in Bacterial Infection, Endocarditis, Pseudomembranous Colitis, Enterocolitis, Pneumonia, Nosocomial Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis, Sepsis, Skin or Soft Tissue Infection, Bacteremia, Meningitis, CNS Infection, Febrile Neutropenia, Intraabdominal Infection, Peritonitis, Prevention of Perinatal Group B Streptococcal Disease, Shunt Infection, Surgical Prophylaxis, Head Injury. |
Contraindications : |
Systemic mastocytosis, Decreased Neutrophils a Type of White Blood Cell, hearing loss, Poisoning by Antibiotic Vancomycin, kidney disease with likely reduction in kidney function, Allergies

Adverse Effects : |
Infusion-related events, nausea, drug fever, rash (may be serious, eg, Stevens-Johnson syndrome), ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, thrombophlebitis, blood dyscrasias; rare: interstitial nephritis, vertigo. |
Dosage : |
500 mg IV every 6 hours OR 1 g IV every 12 hours.
This drug should be administered at a rate up to 10 mg/min or over 1 hour, whichever is longer.
-Doses should be determined by patient-specific factors (e.g., obesity, age).
